After a death in Ireland

How to tell Zurich Life about a death

What Zurich Life needs when someone dies, how to contact them, and what happens next.

How to tell them

Contact the financial adviser who set up the policy, or Zurich's claims team. Send a letter to whichever you contact.

If the policy is assigned to a mortgage lender, Zurich will contact the lender.

Step by step

  1. Prepare a letter with the policy or scheme number if you have it.
  2. They open a claim and send you a claim form and a list of documents, usually a certified copy of the death certificate and proof of who you are.
  3. Return the claim form; ask whether the policy was written in trust or has a named beneficiary, because then it pays out without probate.
