Please read the death notice
They wrote it from what you told them. Check the names, the family, and the funeral times. Nothing is published until they have your go-ahead.

Let us start your case
There is no case yet for . If your funeral director gave you a number, enter it here with the name of the deceased, and you can begin now.
From fairdeal.ie. No funeral director number is needed, and there is no charge.
You already have a case here.
No number? Your funeral director may have set you up under a different email address; sign out and try that one. Or ask them for their LegacySteps number.
If you were invited by a family member to help with their case, sign in with the email address they entered for you.
Hello.
After a death there is paperwork, and a dozen or more organisations to tell. You do not have to deal with all of it now, and you do not have to deal with any of it alone. This takes it one step at a time, and nothing is sent until you have seen it.
Most of them are already filled in. About five minutes.
The letters go out in your name.
Tick the ones that apply. The letters are written for you, and you decide what goes.
You can stop at any point and come back another day. Everything is saved.
By continuing you accept the terms of use and have read the privacy notice.
Details of the deceased
Their name, dates and address. These go into every letter, so you only give them once.
Rather not type? Tap the microphone in any box and say it.
About you
The letters go out in your name, so organisations need to know who you are. About two minutes.
Rather not type? Tap the microphone in any box and say it.
Who needs to be told
The usual ones are ticked already. Untick any that do not apply, add any others, and press the button at the bottom. The letters are written for you. A few organisations only take post or their own form; those are marked, and the letter prints for you to send. You do not need account numbers: the letter gives the name, address and date of birth, which is enough for them to find the account.
Would you like me to walk you through it?
A two-minute tour of this page, one thing at a time. You can pause it, go back, or stop whenever you like.
Take a photo of it. We will read it and show you what it says and what, if anything, you need to do. Nothing changes until you say so.
Check this against the letter itself. The photo is not kept; only what you save here is.
Everything in your case
Tap a number to see just those.
Also here when you need them : paying for the funeral, estate figures for the solicitor, probate
Organisations that only take post are not included; those are in "Print all letters".
Finding this a lot?
Your letters are ready
Check them first
Each letter goes by email in your name, with your death certificate attached if you have uploaded one. Replies come back into this case. A bank, insurer or pension provider will usually reply asking for their own form, a certified copy of the certificate or proof of your identity before releasing anything; when they do, your case says so and gives you the covering letter.

Emails and texts
Reminders, the Friday note and a nudge when a reply is waiting. Switch either off here. You will still get your sign-in code, a reply if you ask for help, and a warning before the case is closed or deleted.
Closing the case
When everything is done, close the case. Your letters and replies stay available for six months in case you need them, then they are deleted. You can reopen it at any time in those six months, and we email you before anything is deleted. If you want it deleted sooner, email derek@legacysteps.ie.
