In the weeks after the funeral, the family has a dozen organisations to tell. LegacySteps gives them one place to do it, with the letters already written, every reply tracked, and your funeral account requested from the estate first. It carries your name, not ours.
Ireland and the UK. One email to set a family up. Flat fee per family, no subscription. Been given a link by your funeral director? Go to the family page.

Nothing to learn and nothing to type. Copy us on the invoice, and the rest happens.
When you email the funeral account to the family, add your LegacySteps address in BCC. That is the whole set-up. We read the invoice, open the family's case and send the invitation in your name, usually within the hour. Prefer to do it at the arrangement? Press Family is here and talk; the form fills itself.
The invitation carries your name, opens with one tap and needs no password. It takes the family through what comes after the funeral one step at a time, and where the bank's requirements allow, it prepares the request to have your account paid from the deceased's own account before probate, with your invoice attached. A letter for every organisation that needs to know, in the family's name, sent from the same screen.
Your dashboard shows each family: invited, opened, funeral account requested, paid. Nothing to chase and nothing to file. You never see the family's letters or the figures from the estate, and if a family would rather not use it, nothing happens.
Every IAFD member in Ireland has a LegacySteps number, with your name and address already filled in, and UK funeral homes are added on request. Claiming it takes a minute; there is nothing to set up. From then on you give a family your number, they enter it, and your name is on every screen they see.

"When my parent died it took me the best part of a year to sort the paperwork. The hardest part was not any one letter. It was keeping track of who I had told, who had come back, and who was still waiting. I built LegacySteps so that no other family has to hold all of that in their head."
The organisations a family in Ireland most often needs to tell, each with its letter and the documents it asks for. The UK list covers the equivalent bodies.

“LegacySteps was extremely useful when I was telling the banks and the credit union about my mother’s passing.”
“It was a great help with getting the letters and notes to the bank after our father died.”
Every family who has used LegacySteps so far has told us how much easier it made the job of telling the banks and other organisations.
A funeral director is putting their name on this and handing over a family’s PPS number. These are the answers to the questions that follow from that.
Stored on servers in the EU (Ireland region). Used only for the notifications the family chooses to send. Never sold, shared or used for anything else.
A family sees its own case. A funeral home sees only the families it set up, and their progress rather than the contents of their letters. Nobody else sees anything.
When a case is closed the personal details are removed on a fixed schedule. Nothing sits in a database for years afterwards.
Yes, in the family's name and only once they have chosen who to tell and pressed Send. Each letter goes by email from LegacySteps, or is printed to post, and the reply comes back into the case. Organisations that have not replied are reminded weekly in the family's name. LegacySteps tells each organisation about the death; it is not a direct connection into their systems. Many will reply asking for their own form, a certified copy of the death certificate or proof of identity before they act, and the case explains what is needed and gives the covering letter.
The death certificate (or the interim certificate), the PPS number, and any account or policy numbers they can find. The registration sheet in LegacySteps lists everything the registrar will ask for, so the certificate appointment goes smoothly.
Yes. The funeral director provides it.
A flat fee per family you set up, invoiced monthly, with no subscription, minimum or contract term. Ring or email for the current rate. What you charge the family, if anything, is your decision.
Under a minute per family: name, email and mobile, typed or said aloud. For an assisted case, your staff sit with the family and complete the three steps with them, typically fifteen minutes.
Yes. The walkthrough above runs on a sample family. If you would like your own account to try with a real family, ring or email and it will be set up the same day.
No. LegacySteps handles notifications: telling organisations that someone has died and what they need to do next. Probate, wills and the estate itself remain matters for a solicitor.
LegacySteps was built in Ireland by Derek Fitzgerald after going through the process himself for a parent. It is offered to families through funeral directors, and only through funeral directors.

Ring Derek Fitzgerald on 087 759 9848 or email derek@legacysteps.ie. Your account, with your name and logo, is usually ready the same day.
