Opening your dashboard…
This account is not set up as staff of a funeral director or credit union
You are signed in as . If you are a family member, go to your case. If you work for a funeral director or a credit union, ask a colleague who already uses LegacySteps to add you from their "Your team" page, or contact support.
Welcome. Let us get you set up.
Five short steps, one at a time. Take them at your own pace; you can skip anything and come back to it under Your team.
You are signed in
That is the first step done. From now on, anyone at signs in the same way: go to www.legacysteps.ie, press Sign in, type your number , tap their name, and type the six-digit code that arrives in your funeral home's email. No passwords to remember.
Would you like me to walk you through it?
A two-minute tour of the dashboard's three tabs, one thing at a time. You can pause it, go back, or stop at any point.
Get paid, and put your name on it
Two things that make a real difference. Both take a minute.
Your bank details
When a family asks their bank, credit union or insurer to pay the funeral account from the deceased's money, the request tells them exactly where to send it. That is usually the quickest way to be paid.
Your logo
This matters. Your logo goes on every screen the family sees and on every letter and email sent in their name, so the service is yours, not ours. PNG or JPEG, up to 2 MB; a wide logo on a white background works best.
Check the name and phone number families will see
Add your colleagues
First names only. Anyone you add signs in with your number and taps their name; the code still goes to your organisation's email, so nobody needs an email address of their own. Everything a person does is recorded against their name, and you can remove a name the day someone leaves.
Send us your first family
You do not have to set families up yourself. Send us the details and we do it in your name; the family reads and agrees to the terms on their own screen before anything is sent.
Copy us on the invoice
When you email the funeral account to the family, add your LegacySteps address (it is on the Set up a family tab) in BCC. We read the invoice, set the family up and invite them in your name, usually within the hour, with the request to have your account paid prepared for them. No invoice yet? Email derek@legacysteps.ie the deceased's name, the date of death, and the family member's name, email and mobile. Each family appears on this dashboard once it is set up.
Or do it yourself
At the desk, press Dictate and talk through the arrangement as normal; the form fills itself and the family member ticks the agreement on their own phone. Or read several families out at once from your files.
Let them start
Give the family your number, . They enter it at www.legacysteps.ie/families and your name is on every screen.
Share with a familyThen leave it to run
- The family is invited in your name, by email and by text.
- Their letters go out, replies come back into their case, and anyone who has not replied is chased every week.
- You see each family's progress on your dashboard, and you get an email only if a family stalls.
- When a family's letter to you goes out, it appears at the top of your dashboard, so you know a claim or a query is on its way.
- To be paid sooner, send us your invoice with the family's details, or open the family and attach it. The family lists where the money is and the request goes to the bank with your invoice and bank details.
- Payment requests are on the Getting paid tab of your dashboard. When the money lands, press Paid in full.
- Stuck at any point? Press Ask a question at the top of the page, type or say it, and the answer appears in seconds.

Letters to you
Families whose letter to your credit union has gone out, asking about the account, a nomination, Death Benefit Insurance, Life Savings Insurance and Loan Protection. Dates only; the letter itself is the family's.
Families who may need you
A short list of families who asked you to ring, have not opened their account, or have gone quiet. You see dates and counts only, never their letters or figures.

No families yet. Email us the next family's details and they will appear here, or use the Set up a family tab.
Open a family to book the registration, add your invoice and see who has been asked to pay you. You can see whether each family has started and how far they have got, never what they enter. That is by design and is what we tell families.
Copy your LegacySteps address in BCC when you email a family their funeral account, and we set them up in your name, usually within the hour. Use the options below only if you would rather do it yourself.
At the arrangement, press Family is here and talk as normal. LegacySteps fills in the details and writes the death notice, and the family scans a code to agree on their own phone. Or add several families at once further down.
Set up a family's account
Fill this in with the family member. At the end, turn the screen to them so they can read the agreement and tick it themselves. Nothing is saved until they have.
A draft from what the family told you. Change anything you need to: it is their notice. Changing the style rewords it with the same facts.
Also check the spelling of every name, how each person is related, dates and times, the church, cemetery or crematorium, flowers and donations, and any religious wording.
Ask the family to scan this with their phone camera
They read the agreement on their own phone, check their email address, agree, and their case opens there. The code works once, for 30 minutes, and holds no personal details.
Waiting for the family to scan it…
Account created
An invitation email goes to the family automatically. If you would rather send it yourself, or want to add a personal note, here is the wording:

Suggest a valuer for the panel
When a house or land goes through probate, the family needs a written valuation at market value on the date of death. Families see the licensed valuers on the LegacySteps panel for their county. If there is a local valuer or auctioneer you trust and would like your families to be offered, tell us here. We invite the firm onto the panel on the usual terms and let you know when it is listed.
Billing
LegacySteps bills you €40 per family, inclusive of VAT, once a month by card or direct debit. You add your payment details once here; after that every monthly invoice is collected automatically and emailed to you. What you charge the family, if anything, is your own decision.
Your card or bank details are held by Stripe, our payment provider, not by LegacySteps. One statement a month, for the families set up that month.
Your number, link and code
Families reach you by your number, by your link, or by scanning this code on your screen. Everything for sharing them is on the Share with a family page.
Who can sign in
Everyone signs in at www.legacysteps.ie/fd-signin with your number, then taps their name. The code goes to your organisation's email, . No passwords and no personal email addresses needed.
Remove a name the day someone leaves. Everything done here is recorded against the name that was signed in.
Colleagues with their own email address (optional)
Only needed if a colleague would rather sign in with their own email at www.legacysteps.ie/signin. Remove people the day they leave.
