After a death in Ireland

How to tell PTSB about a death

What PTSB needs when someone dies, how to contact them, and what happens next.

How to tell them

Download PTSB's Bereavement Notification Form, fill it in block capitals, and email it with a covering letter to Bereavement Services, or post it. A certified copy of the death certificate is needed before accounts are put on hold; an interim coroner's certificate is accepted.

Executors, or two nominated next of kin, need certified ID and proof of address.

Step by step

  1. Download PTSB's Bereavement Notification Form and fill it in, in block capitals.
  2. Email the form, with a covering letter, to BereavementServices@ptsb.ie, or post them to Bereavement Services, 56-59 St Stephen's Green.
  3. Send a certified copy of the death certificate (an interim coroner's certificate is accepted). Accounts are put on hold once it arrives; direct debits and standing orders are returned unpaid.
  4. Executors, or two nominated next of kin, provide certified ID and proof of address. If a solicitor acts, they confirm it in writing.
